It is a new start in our lives that will be the new experience to get the top in trek. Hotels provide breakfast and late to pick up you and drive a car for 5 hours to begin of the travelers crossing Cachora, once we will meet the rest of team (horseman and horses). Then we will begin trek go slop up, passing through the pass of Capuliyoc, where we might see condors and great view of the Apurimac Canyon toughly the valley there are exist the microclimate and stopping to pointing and Choquequirao location. Finally we descend through Cactus forest to playa Rosalina on the banks of the Apurimac River the main tributary of the Amazon River, along to go down river we’ll have the microclimate. Camping at playa Rosalina(1550m).
That will be the first thick breakfast, and pick up snack bags to get some food on the back pack during the day, because the ascent is 4 hours of uphill trek through a long and narrow trail in switch back, our adventure start crossing the cable car the wild river and surrounded by dense vegetation with several varieties of orchids. Half way up stop for lunch at Maranpata, that is the begin of the mainly view to Choquequirao trek complex then continue hiking two more hours to Choquequirao (Golden Cradle), is considered the sister city of Machu Picchu, because of several similarities, it hangs 1500m above the Apurimac Canyon., and Machu Picchu hang above the Urubamba canyon. Afternoon is free time to have the sunset views and the canyon is spectacular; it is also possible to see Andean Condors soaring in the mountains. Camping near of Choquequirao (3050m).
Before the Breakfast we recommended go to appreciate the sun rise and late will have at 6am breakfast and then start our trek passing and exploring the Choquequirao remain, uphill through cloud forest, Mountains and valleys to reach the Choquequirao pass. After 5 hours trekking the trail continue through agricultural terraces called Pinchinoyoc which means (water jumping forward - 2750m). There will observe different species of birds, different varieties of orchids, and local coca plantations. We will have our lunch near the Rio Blanco; we use the brake here to get a refreshing bath in the cold and clear river water. We cross walking through the river, since there are no bridges. After our brake we start the long and steep climb to our camp in Maizal, high over the river close to the sacred Apus of the Incas. From Rio Blanco we climb up to Maizal for about 3 hrs. This is one day with many challenge and microclimate, camping at 3000m.
The wake up on the half way of the uphill, into the forest and birds noise it is a great experience, recharge energy and following the trail up, the landscape is green and if we keep the faith and motivation the gods gives us the clear sky and just sit to appreciate the snowcapped, the uphill is around 7 hours climbing to the summit, important due to some archaeological remains such as Inca channels. From here we start walking uphill passing by the impressive Inca mines called Minas Victoria and towards the Victoria Pass(4200 masl). Again a long climb, but we walk in amazingly beautiful area - first with cloud forest and then over Andean Puna with the well-known Ichu grass. Then we pass through Minas Victoria, a place that during the colony, silver was extracted from a mine. Almost on the top we can appreciate original paved Inca trails. We take our box lunch at the pass in 4200m with view of the mountain Choquetakarpo and Pedrayoc, while we had lunch we will be able to appreciate the flight of the condors depending on the climate, and finally descend to our campsite at Yamana, a small village settlement at the bottom of a long valley surrounded by mountains (3800m).
Yanama with the native community around the base camp to get big smile of the children to have a big start on the trail, sun is pointing to camp ground, the waterfall noise, breakfast on the outside table and then start hiking uphill to the highest pass in this trek (5 hrs.), named Yamana pass 4700 m.a.s.l. Again the view will be amazing from here we will be surrounded by mountain range of Saqsarayoc and Pedreyoc. Once again we have the chance to see condors, and this morning smooth climb bring us through new landscapes - especially the wet grass fields under the snowline and water stream. In the pass we might walk in snow, it is the new entrance to the valley of Sta. Teresa, and observing one of the Incas God Salkantay Mountain, and the descent is a long foggy hike through grassy fields- and bush areas and crossing bridges on the way towards the community of Totora, where we spend in tents in an indescribable beauty, surrounded by pure nature and native people.
This day is more downhill continued the original Inca trail in the forest to appreciate the depth jungle forest the hiking will be 10 hours, sound is good back to the jungle where is hot and harvest some fruits descending into Totora River. We will observe the natural wildlife, such as hummingbirds, woodpeckers, many species of orchids and begonias. Then we descend the trail on the left side of the Santa Teresa River where we will see small plantations of bananas, passion fruit, and coffee and chance to try this coffee. On the way will stop at small waterfalls and get a refreshing natural bath. The area also has a big variation of bird the climate and vegetation have changed totally. The Playa is the biggest village on the way (lunch place), where we can find some small shops to buy snack etc. as well first place with electricity, after lunch we will drive the small van to Sta. Teresa (1600 m.a.s.l) about 40 min. there are base camp, afternoon we recommended drive to hot spring swimming after hard journey.
On this day the wake up is late, even we have a time to walk around the town to explore the new city after collapse on the 1997 (phenomenon Niño) such learn about the history of the area, the last breakfast with our crew, after drive to hydroelectric 40 min where is the start point for hike to Aguas Calientes 3 hours, on the trail is clear to appreciate a lot type of orchid and birds, the big scenery is the view to Machupicchu city is situated dense a bizarre vegetation and offers an exceptional view of the mountain Machu Picchu, for sick or tired kickers optional train service (US $ 18.00) there we will spend the night in a hotel in Aguas Calientes.
This is a special day to climb up to appreciate Machu Picchu, we recommended go as early possible from Aguas Calientes we walk or take (Optional bus $12)bus to Machu Picchu, there are a surprise with the sun over the mountains, we will have a guided tour for all the Archaeological Site, then we will have free time to explore the city, maybe to climb the Wayna Picchu or visit the moon temple. Afternoon come dawn back to Aguas Calientes to catch the train back to Cusco (18:20 pm) arriving to Cusco hotel 9:30 pm approx.
